Height: Average under 34 to 38 inches or 8.5 to 9.5 hands
Colors + Markings: All colors including solid coats, pintos, and spotted
Coat: Thicker than full-size horses
Lifespan: 25 to 35 years, longer than full-size horses

Key Care Requirements

Diet + Nutrition: Additional weight and obesity is a concern; they need a strict calorie diet on grass hay rather than gain. Access to clean water (1 gallon to 100lbs a day)
Hoof Care + Grooming: Hooves need to be trimmed often every month to two months. Regular grooming is required to maintain a healthy coat.
Shelter: Proper fencing is required for protection, with ample space (around 200 square feet) to roam around.
Health: Regular dental care and vaccinations are required. Avoid feeding chocolate, caffeine, or anything high in sugar.
Social Life: It is best to have two miniature horses or more as they require companionship.
Service Animals: Yes; mini horses make a great choice assisting individuals with disabilities.
